I was Born 1970 in Malaysia and self-thought. I have been painting on silk since 1985. With the experience of over two decades, I have made numerous silk paintings using different kind of techniques in creating my silk art. I use tjanting and wax as tools to create my silk paintings which are also well known as tools to create batik art. Wax is an excellent resist as it gives sharp lines and holds the dyes back very well. Silk painting is creating art on fabric, with silk as its canvas. Silk painting can be done on different surfaces, with or without control, in styles ranging from intricate to free form. I use a traditional wax applicator known as tjanting which is used to let the hot wax flows through it as to create a resist in silk paintings. Once the painting is done, then it will be followed by the process of removing wax from the fabric and this will leave the silk painting with the combination of beauty and unique in its own way. As a full time silk painting artist I also enjoy paints on other media when I have the free time. |
